It’s Earth Week! It’s seriously our favorite week of the year because you get to wear green, think green, be green and spread the word about going green. This year could in fact be our best Earth Week to date. Why? Because we’ve come up with some new ways to help you rock
Biggest Loser: Energy and get closer to winning that $1000 grant.

Earth Day is Coming
April 13th, 2012 by Gaby
Next week is a very special week for us. Why? We’re having a week – long celebration of the earth called… EARTH WEEK!
Culminating with Earth Day on April 22nd, we’re devoting this entire week to fun facts about the earth, the chance to win some pretty awesome prizes, tips and tricks about how to get ahead in our Biggest Loser: Energy competition and just general awesomeness.
Did you know that the very first Earth Day was held on March 21, 1969? A year after that US Senator Gaylord Nelson held another Earth Day as a teachen. That day stuck, and now it’s the day that’s recognized as Earth Day in over 175 countries.
To kick things off we walked around Oakland, CA and asked community members two questions: 1. When is Earth Day? and 2. What do you do to go green? Check out this video for their responses.

Eco-Warriors reflect on Earth Day victories
June 8th, 2011 by ACE Field Correspondent
By Hayley Mcguire, student at Reed High School
After winning the Sustainability competition for Reed High school, the Eco Warriors were invited to set up a booth at the annual Earth day Festival!! Bringing along our poster featuring our plans hand made by our club, we set out to inspire the Eco-Warrior ways.
Throughout the day we took shifts among our members. While a few stayed at the booth to present our plans to the local Eco-lovers the others would walk around from booth to booth searching for new ways that could possibly further the sustainability of our school. For example we found some possible choices for future solar panels that would really reduce energy, as well as many local programs that we announced to our school, getting students more involved in the environment.
After a very long day of Eco-love, we all piled back into Hector’s car and carpooled back to Sparks as an effort to reduce gas emissions. A perfect eco-warrior end to a perfect earth day!!! What a blast!! Can’t wait for next year. Have a great summer everyone!
