Hug High Goes Idle Free

That’s right — Idle Free Schools has struck again. This time it was Proctor R. Hug High School in Reno, Nevada. With support from Hug High science teacher Tammy Nechita and ACE Climate Action Fellow Alicia Wong, ACE Director of Education Rebecca Anderson met up with Hug High students outside their school last week and installed three beautiful Idle Free signs along the curb where cars and buses line up after school. By becoming an Idle Free School, Hug High parents, students, staff and bus drivers are committing to not idling their car, truck or bus while on school grounds. It’s a small action but not idling saves money and gas as well as CO2. It also makes for cleaner air and healthier lungs for all the students at Hug. Hug High joins a growing list of 13 other Washoe County schools in the Reno-Sparks area that have gone Idle Free. Congrats, Hug!
