This is a guest post by Symone Baskerville, a student at Kenwood Academy High School and ACE Field Correspondent.

Final rehearsals started early. Models and designers arrived at the museum for more practice walk-throughs and a little more dancing

silliness to help the models feel more comfortable on the runway. Once the summit started, many designers stayed back in the room to finish up hair, do makeup, and…for me…some last minute alterations!

Projections of the designers name, model, and outfit description were cast on both sides of the runway- this was very exciting! There was music, cameras, 52 outfits, and over 250 people in watching!

This year I was also very excited to see the show included 3 male models, including Saul Rodriguez who designed a full ball gown out of plastic bags! Check out a picture of it below.

At the end of the fashion show 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize were awarded for the two categories. Our judges were amazing: Saudia Davis (a model and founder of Smarty Pants), Steve Clark (from Kitchen Community) and Mary Tres (last year’s Project Greenway winner).

AND- My bottle cap dress took home 3rd place in recycled /repurpose category this year! Thanks again, judges!

Project Greenway just keeps getting better.  With the help of the amazing organizers of this event, the designers, models and parents, we were able to make Project Greenway a success once again! I can’t wait to see what happens next year.

See you then!
