Do you remember Dr. Seuss’ book The Lorax? To refresh your memory just in case it’s been a while, the Lorax speaks for the trees. When the Once-ler discovers that he can use the gorgeous Truffula trees to make an odd-looking garment, he sets up shop and soon destroys all of the trees, despite multiple warnings from the Lorax. We won’t ruin the ending for you, but… on March 2, the animated movie version of The Lorax comes out in theatres.
To celebrate the movie opening and our love of trees, we’re rolling a brand new, limited edition Action Team Bonus Project. Plant a tree on campus, send us a picture of your Action Team, tell us about your project and you’ll earn a bonus star. It’s that easy, and remember the more stars you earn, the higher you’ll be on our Leaderboard.
Want to show even more love for The Lorax? You’re in luck. Email me (gaby.berkman@climateeducation.org) your original ending to the Lorax answering the question: what happens next? It can be a short story, a poem, a picture, anything that sums up what you think should happen next in The Lorax. The most creative submission will win a Target gift card.
Happy tree planting!
