Buffalo Bayou

Buffalo Bayou Partnership is the non-profit organization revitalizing 
and transforming Buffalo Bayou, Houston’s most significant natural resource.  Buffalo Bayou is well on its way to becoming one of Houston’s primary attractions but we still have work to do. Our new hike and bike trails and growing green spaces need to be landscaped and cleaned up regularly.

What YOU can Do: Volunteering with Bayou beautification is an easy, fun and convenient way for schools and friends to foster teamwork and give back to the community.  Come join us on Green Team Saturdays:  Help beautify parks and trails on the Bayou!

Discovery Green

 

 




Discovery Green
is a 12-acre park in downtown Houston. Visitors can enjoy many natural, recreational, art, dining and - ACE's favorite - eco-friendly features, including green buildings and energy usage.


What YOU Can Do:
Every Saturday is Recycle Day, students can come to recycle, and take part in park activities. Every Sunday you can check out the Green Market with freshest organic produce and farm products.  Come visit and buy healthy foods - and check out these other cool events:

  • Oct. - Jan., Cool Globe Exhibit - 50 super-sized globes that depict solutions to Global Warming. Students can help decorate globes and volunteer at the exhibit.
  • Sundays, Noon – 4PM: The Central City Co-op Green Market at Discovery Green expands to include holiday products from resident artists and craftsmen, using local and sustainable materials. A great chance to pick up unique gifts, as well as your weekly veggies!

Green Team America

Green Team America organizes, educates and motivates America’s youth about climate change. We help students combine individual and local efforts with a nationwide movement that will eventually encompass the globe.

Keep Houston Beautiful

Keep Houston Beautiful is the city's leading organization in beautification, litter reduction and recycling education. For 30 years, Keep Houston Beautiful has been reaching out to all segments of our community to educate and empower individuals to take greater responsibility for beautifying and enhancing Houston's environment. Each year's successes have created a cleaner and healthier city for all Houstonians.


What YOU Can Do:
  We depend on volunteers and donations of all types.  Your time and talents are always appreciated by Keep Houston Beautiful.  Here are a few ways to get involved:

The Last Organic Outpost

The Last Organic Outpost is a inner city urban farm project using regenerative agriculture to restore the fertility of unused land.

What YOU Can Do:

We offer opportunities for people to learn by doing:

  • On the 3rd Wednesday of every month, we will be having a meeting to discuss to formation of the Urban Farm Belt, 5th Ward district.
  • Every Saturday, work events are planned at the Emile St. Community Farm every Saturday after 10:00 am until dark and Sundays, 2 until dark.
