Heal The Bay:

Heal the Bay is an environmental nonprofit dedicated to making Southern California coastal waters and watersheds, including the Santa Monica Bay, safe, healthy and clean.
What YOU Can Do: We currently have three awesome volunteer opportunities for high school students:
- Nothin’ But Sand Beach Cleanups: Join hundreds of participants as we clean the beach, every third Saturday of the Month from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM. Beach locations vary so be sure to visit our website for more information! All ages are welcome - all you need is a signed waiver
- HtB Ambassadors: Spread the word by representing Heal the Bay at local festivals and community events. Ambassadors staff booths, set up displays, distribute materials and educate the public one-on-one. To become an Ambassador, attend a Volunteer Orientation, held every 2nd Monday of the month from 7PM – 9PM. Check our calendar for orientation dates & details. Must be 16 or older
- Santa Monica Pier Aquarium: Educate students, teachers, and visitors about the local marine environment. Help maintain the tanks and care for the animals. Or meet, greet and inform the public during visiting hours. All volunteers must commit to 100 hours of service and complete 12 hours of training. Oxfam Action Corps
The Los Angeles Oxfam Action Corps is a group of dedicated volunteers who campaign with Oxfam to fight poverty. Our current campaign focuses on climate change and its effects on the world's poorest communities.
What YOU Can Do: Volunteers with the Oxfam Action Corps lead a coordinated charge to improve national legislation and deepen local community resources for fighting poverty and injustice.

Greenpeace is the worlds largest environmental organization, working internationally and locally to 'bear witness' to environmental destruction in a peaceful, non-violent manner. Greenpeace seeks solutions for, and promotes open, informed debate about society's environmental choices.
What YOU Can Do: Join our volunteer team and get involved! Our volunteers take the lead on helping to organize events, outreach in communities all over Los Angeles, and take actions that win real victories for the planet. We welcome all at our monthly volunteer meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at our Los Feliz office. We want you to join our team!

The SEA Lab- A Program of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps

Located in Redondo Beach, our unique facility houses over 100 different species of marine animals, provides education programs to school children, grows thousands of native plants, and participates in a variety of conservation-related projects including recycling, tree planting, and habitat restoration.
What YOU Can Do: Volunteer (must be at least 14 years old) be an Intern (ages 18-24)!
- Aquarist Assistant: Assist staff with the cleaning and organizing of aquaria; food preparation, animal rescue and rehabilitation, feeding and guided tours.
- Education Volunteer: The SEA Lab is looking for enthusiastic individuals to assist and lead beach explorations, marine science activities, and guided touch tank tours at our aquarium. The SEA Lab offers free and low cost programs to K-12 students in the South Bay and surrounding Los Angeles areas. Volunteers are a necessity in providing these programs to school groups and non-profit organizations.
- Habitat Restoration: People of all ages are invited to help with the Redondo Beach Bluffs project held every third Saturday of the month from 10:00 am - 12 noon. We meet at Vista del Mar and Esplanade near Miramar Park.
- Paid Internship: Teach children about the coastal environment, grow native plants, plant trees throughout Los Angeles, work on restoration projects, and care for rescued marine wildlife.
