Northern California
ACE Northern California is where it all began! Two years ago we were a staff of four, staying up late developing and field-testing our first presentation. Now, we have over 40 employees across the country, and are about to enter our third year presenting the most dynamic and engaging climate presentation the world has ever seen!
So far, we have presented to more than 155,000 students across Northern California! We are also pleased to support 121 student-led Action Teams.
Our educator team is comprised of four dynamic, talented individuals. AshEl, Rebecca, Wen and Lead Educator Ethan.

What's your favorite part about working in Northern California?
Working out of the Oakland office puts us close to an amazing community of students, teachers, professors and organizations working tirelessly to solve the climate crisis. We truly feel part of an energized effort to make big changes. We are also the National Headquarters hub, so we have a first row seat in designing all the pieces of the ACE puzzle.
What's the most inspiring student project you have worked on in Northern California?
In Oakland, we are lucky to work directly with our Youth Advisory Board, young people who are reinventing what it means to be climate visionaries. Shreya Indukuri and Daniella Lapidous have transformed the culture of sustainability at Harker High School by initiating a complete energy renovation. They've taken their efforts to the next level by founding SmartPowerEd.org, a student-run information clearinghouse. Also on our Board is Alec Loorz. Alec founded Kids vs. Global Warming at 12 years old and has inspired tens of thousands. Finally, there's Adarsha Shivakumar, who founded Project Jatropha, a small-scale biofules cooperative in India which addresses both environmental destruction and poverty.
What's a fun fact about the Northern California team?
Besides being ACE Educators, we are: two successful Bay Area hip hop artists, one bonafide paleoclimatologist, one biobus adventurer, and a mountain biking madman. Come by the Oakland office and we'll fly by you with lightning speed as we drop beats about climate science aboard a vegetable oil and solar-powered school bus!

Region Specific Climate info
Our beautiful state faces some serious consequences as the planet's climate continues to warm. If nothing is done to change our course, we face:
- More wildfires: up to 55% more wildfires which wipe out forest ecosystems and char the beautiful places where we hike and relax
- Shrinking snowpack: Sierra snowpack could decline by as much as 90%. This will create some major problems for drinking water supplies and agriculture
- Higher sea level: California's 1100 miles of coastline could be threatened with sea level rise of 22 to 35 inches by the end of the century. This will put a serious strain on coastal communities and our sandy beaches
- Native plant extinction: We could lose up to two-thirds of our California plant species
