Daisy Pistey-Lyhne - DC Senior Educator

Daisy comes to ACE after 4 years of working north of San Francisco Bay for Greenbelt Alliance. There she worked to educate and motivate decision-makers and community members to adopt wise land-use and transportation plans for their cities, towns, and rural areas in order to decrease GHG emissions, enhance their quality of life, and improve public health. She has previously worked in education, community outreach, and policy advocacy with various groups in the US and abroad to define environmentally-responsible ways for urban and rural communities to develop, and to deepen people's connection to the land. She earned her M.S. in Sustainable Community Development and her B.S. in Earth Systems, both from Stanford University.

Daisy is passionate about empowering and inspiring communities to protect their environment, and especially about bringing the voice of youth to bear on the important policy decisions being made around climate issues, as the youngest generations will have to deal with the consequences of climate change the most throughout their lifetimes. When not working, she enjoys playing soccer and blues harmonica, getting to know Chesapeake Bay and the Shenandoah Valley, and writing and performing spoken word pieces.
