Colorado Team
Amy Atkins, Senior Educator
Amy’s passion for the environment, teens and social justice lead her to ACE in the spring of 2010. She attended the University of Georgia as a public relations major and obtained her masters in environmental education at Colorado State University. Amy has lived and worked all over the world at summer camps, boarding schools and universities. In addition to being the Senior Educator at ACE, she is an Adjunct Professor at Naropa University teaching Restoration Ecology and serves on the board of directors for Wildlands Restoration Volunteers.
Amy can be spotted around Boulder performing dramatic readings of the Lorax, training for a triathlon (sprint distance), hiking, canning pickles and apple butter, and eradicating myrtle spurge. She is grateful to have a job where she can work to save polar bears every day!
Bridget Jankovsky, Educator
Bridget graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2008, earning a B.A. in Sociology and receiving the INVST Community Leadership studies certificate as well as the Peace and Conflict Studies certificate. While at CU she was an avid broomball player, a member of the CU Freestyle Ski Team, and volunteered as a street counselor with homeless youth.
Bridget has a variety of experiences with environmental justice. Her honor’s thesis examined the existence of environmental inequality on the Navajo Reservation as a result of uranium and coal mining. Bridget joined the ACE team after leading a service-learning trip for CU that focused on energy and the economy in the southwestern United States. During this experience she facilitated students’ exploration of issues such as environmental stewardship, climate change, housing and healthcare access, human rights, energy and globalization.
Bridget has a long-standing commitment to empowering youth through knowledge and action and is passionate about inspiring youth to raise their voices in order to create a world that they envision. She believes by informing and equipping youth with the tools necessary to create change we can make a long-lasting difference in the world.
